On March 31, 2025, the EXPAND-EV project hosted its first webinar, "Basics of Extracellular Vesicles: Theory and Practice." This session marked an important step in advancing knowledge and collaboration in extracellular vesicle (EV) research.
Milica Popović, Coordinator, opened the event with a welcome note and agenda overview. She then introduced EV biogenesis, uptake, and purification methodology, explaining key biological processes and standard isolation techniques used in research and clinical applications.
Next, Evangelos Korakidis and Eirini Kyriakopoulou from HPI discussed EVs as diagnostic and prognostic markers in viral infections, highlighting how they carry molecular signatures that reflect disease states and their potential in improving diagnostics.
Finally, Joaquin Seras Franzoso presented on EVs as carriers of therapy, with a focus on protein delivery. He explored their role as natural drug delivery systems and innovative strategies for therapeutic applications.
